A comprehensive medical eye exam should include all of the following;
A Detailed Case History: You will be asked questions about your vision, your family history, and your general health.
Visual Testing: Using lenses and prisms to evaluate various optical, muscular, and neurological characteristics of the visual system. These tests will help determine if corrective lenses are needed.
Eye Function Tests: Evaluate peripheral vision, pupils responses, and motor coordination (eye movements).
Slit Lamp Exam: A special microscope is used to exam the structures of the internal and external parts of the eye checking for diseases. In addition to this the doctor may use an instrument called a BIO to further exam the inside of the eye. This usually requires dilating the eyes which is the most thorough method of examination.
In addition to these tests, we check color vision, depth perception, pachymetry, and to track progression of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy may take digital photo's of the back of the eye.
LASIK: Dr. Wayland and staff are happy to assist you on questions regarding refractive surgery. There are many different types of surgical procedures. We work together with the finest surgery centers to provide the best care for you. Please feel free to call for a FREE consultation.
SURGICAL COMANAGEMENT: We are very pleased to have Dr. Dennis Matzkin provide surgical care for our office. In addition to his services, we work with many other specialist to provide the best in cataract care, macular degeneration treatments, retinal conditions, and many other problems.
OPTICAL: We offer a full service optical with one hour service for single vision prescriptions. We have hundreds of frames to choose from for men, women, and children. Prices start at $59.00 for a complete pair of single vision glasses, $89 for complete pair of line bifocals, and $99 for a complete pair of progressive eyeglasses. We offer an exclusive 1-year warranty on most frames and lenses that cover manufacturer defects and scratches.
Contacts: Dr. Wayland has over 10-years experience in designing and fitting contacts for patients who are interested in trying them. We offer special lenses for dry eyes, color contacts, bifocal contacts, contacts for astigmatism, and medical contacts for conditions such as keratoconus.

Facilities and Equipment
Dr. Wayland and Dr. Shipley perform refractive and corneal testing, intraocular pressures, visual fields, and overall diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Testing includes dilated fundus exams and retinal photography, co-management of cataracts, retinal disorder, and pre and post-op management of Lasik in partnership with the Eyesight Laser center and Dr. Dennis Matzkin in Buckhead. Contact lens services include fitting of toric, bifocal, daily disposable, monthly extended wear, gas permeable, and hard to fit patients. We carry 1000 contact lenses in stock.
